Fairland Aquatics Construction Blog Entry #4
With phase 1 of the construction project well under way, it’s time to talk a little bit about phase 2. Phase 2 of the project consists of the replacement of all 3 of our existing water filtration systems. Our previous filtration systems used high rate sand filters that were capable of filtering out particulate matter down to the size of 10 microns. Anybody who has been to Fairland knows that we had excellent water clarity, particularly in the main pool. Our new “Defender” filters will use diatomaceous earth and will be capable of filtering out particulate matter down to the size of 1 micron. Though it may sound like splitting hairs when comparing the filtration capabilities of 10 microns to 1 micron, the benefits of being able to filter out smaller particles become evident when you consider the removal of waterborne illnesses such as cryptosporidium. This is cutting edge equipment and we are excited not only to learn these new systems but to also pass the benefits on to our valued patrons!
