Innovative Proposal Key Point Definitions

Added Value to the Community: Enriches the lives of the residents we serve.

Health & Wellness: Improves overall health and wellness of communities that serve as essential partners in conducting some of the most complicated and expensive challenges of our country – poor nutrition, hunger, obesity and physical activity.

Social equity: Ensures all members of the community have universal access to public parks and recreation.

Conservation: Takes a critical role in preserving natural resources that have real economic benefits for communities.

Best Practices: A program or idea that consistently shows results superior to those achieved with other means and is used as a benchmark. An idea that evolves or becomes better as improvements are discovered.

Operational Efficiency: Streamlines the work flow, processes, communication, and quality of work programs to reduce time spent, resources used, and waste created..

Cost Efficiency: Provides added cost savings for the Commission in day-to-day operations and as a whole; supports goals of the Department’s standards of cost recovery and the stoplight model.

Customer Service: Improves internal and/or external customer service for the agency and community.

Terms and Conditions:

All accepted innovation proposal submissions will be required to develop an itemized budget and use the tools of the Commission to show a detailed process (e.g. Cost Recovery Worksheet, Project Timelines, Developmental Assets, etc.). Proposals should be feasible to implement and should show how collaboration has taken place and will continue to be practiced across divisions.

Please note: The execution of the proposed idea will directly involve the applicant(s). While we appreciate all ideas submitted, the committee looks for those submitters who will be actively engaged in every step of the project from initiation through completion and are prepared to play a key role in the development and execution of the idea. The committee is prepared to assist those submitters who need assistance with the process (see below).
