Teen & Jeans--A Chance to Give Back
Want to make a difference for someone in need? With the holidays approaching, it is the perfect time to think of giving to others, and it’s simple with Teens & Jeans for the Homeless. This initiative, sponsored by the Maryland-National Capital Parks and Planning Commission, is allowing teens the chance to give back to the community in an easy, but significant way. In observance of National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week, residents of Prince George’s County can take a pair, or multiple pairs, of jeans to any community center by Thursday, November 17. These jeans will be given to organizations and shelters throughout the area, so that they can be distributed to those in need. Jeans can also be donated at the Teens & Jeans Walk-a-thon on Saturday, November 19 at the Bladensburg Waterfront Park. This free event begins at 9 a.m. Saturday, with registration, and continues with a walk through the Anacostia Tributary Trail System, as well as activities and live entertainment. This event will serve as a final clothing drive for the Teens & Jeans project, as well as a chance to raise awareness for Hunger and Homelessness. To get involved in the walk, register on the Xtreme Teens website.
