Xtreme Teens Joins rest of Prince George’s County in 33rd Annual National Night Out
By Meghan Brown

The countdown has begun for the 33rd annual National Night Out. It’s that time of the year when communities and law enforcement come together for games, food, and different events in an effort to bring communities together and promote police-community partnerships. This year’s National Night Out will be held on August 1st.

For this event, residents are encouraged to turn on their exterior lights and join the rest of the community outside for the night. All seven districts in Prince George’s County participate in this event with more than 60 locations all over the community, joining over 15,000 other participating communities, nationwide.

Communities, businesses, and other event participants hold different exciting activities for residents, including moon bounces, dancing, K-9 and other local law enforcement demonstrations, face painting, and more.

National Night Out, originally known as “America’s Night Out Against Crime,” was started in 1984 by the National Association of Town Watch, a non-profit organization focused on the development and promotion of various crime prevention programs. The event was created to promote crime prevention and police-community partnerships. Since then, the event has grown nationally with communities from almost every state participating.
