TEEN COTILLION : TUCKER ROAD ICE RINK - FALLING HAS NEVER BEEN SO COOL
It’s Friday night and even though it’s cold, we’re still feeling fine!! We’re off to party on ice at the Tucker Road Ice Rink, and since it’s Valentine’s Day Weekend, we were able to invite a friend to join in on the fun.

Most of our party-goers began to arrive around 7:30pm. After a few rules and regulations; we were off to the rink for some fun and boy was the ice cold? We learned from Mr. Greg Gordon that the huge slab of ice we were skating on is actually 16 degrees Fahrenheit. To me, that means super cold. As we got out on the ice, the music started, and the skating fun began.

We had an awesome DJ! He played all the latest tunes and even mixed the latest beats to our favorite lyrics. Ever heard Adele go-go style? Well, how about Jersey style? We had all the styles we could imagine as the DJ played all the hottest songs, including songs not on the radio. Since the music was great, we got to dance the night away.

While some of our participants knew how to skate, majority did not; so many people were seen using the ice-skating mates that helped us to stand up as we moved across the ice. There were a couple of people racing on ice, playing games together and even testing who could do the best skate tricks successfully. Yet, the most exciting moments of it all, was trying not to fall. On the ice, everything is super slippery of course and when we fell, we’d stand up with an icy residue marking the evidence of our blunders. But it was all cool (pun intended), because everyone was slipping and sliding all night long, and this resulted in some of the most heartfelt, bellyaching laughs of the entire night.

As we began to tire out, many people went to the arcade game section, or sat on the bleachers to watch the others skate. But what’s a party without food? To top the night off, we had some great snacks to keep us energized as we got in a great, impromptu workout. And at the end of the night, we returned our skates and got on the road to go home. The night was a lot of fun, and many of the participants went home super tired. It took a lot of energy to get out there and skate for nearly two hours. Overall, I had a great time, and I know our participants did as well.
