Tucker Road Youth Ice Hockey
The winter of 2014 proved to be the catalyst that we needed to establish the youth hockey program at the Tucker Road Ice Rink. In conjunction with USA Hockey we offered a “Try Hockey for Free” event at the rink. To our surprise we had over 75 boys and girls participate over that weekend.

Due to the interest in Ice Hockey we were able to form 2 teams in the fall. The kids were instrumental in selecting Tucker Roads team name: DUCKS.

The 2015-16 Hockey Season began slowly but we now have 20 boys & girls participating. The Pee Wee/Bantam team has a 10 game schedule. The Mites team will be participating in 3 Hockey Jamborees.

Our teams have enhanced their experience by traveling to other hockey venues (Ft. Dupont, Prince William Ice Rink, Skate Quest in Reston and Wells Ice Rink). This exposes them to different hockey programs and has also forged many friendships with other area teams.

We are fortunate to have four USA Hockey certified coaches (two of which are volunteer parents). The teams have 2 practices a week and their season is scheduled through March 2016.

The Tucker Road Hockey Parent Organization lends support and actively promotes the program in the area. Our goal is to firmly establish the Youth Hockey Program in Southern Prince George’s County and continue to offer a quality program for our youth.
