Why don't you open the managed hunted to hunters during designated days like Howard and Montgomery county do? They use a lottery system. Hunters like myself, use harvested deer to provide food for our families throughout the year.

Why not have local area bow hunters take a proficiency test, educate them on urban hunting responsibilities and have them cull the population? You could set up a quota system where they would have to harvest 2 does before a buck or something similar to encourage a higher number of deer to be harvested. Any of these deer harvested would not count against season bag limits. All deer could be donated without charge to local area food banks through the program. There would be many ways to incentivise the program. Reduction of the population is done by eliminating the does. When farmers are issued crop damage permits it is for does only. It is very rare for them to be issue any buck tags nor do the tags remain active until March 31st. From January until March is just indiscriminate elimination as the bucks have shed their antlers and unless trained, their is no way to differentiate between male and female. Deer start fawning in April. There is something morally unpalatable about letting folks shoot them until that far into their pregnancy. Its fairly hard to stomach considering the fawns are fully developed and 3/4 of their birth weight. In closing, from what I've been told, there doesn't seem to be a need for this year's culling as last year's has decimated the population. Looking forward to your response.

I am in favor of the deer management project to reduce the deer population.

I completely agree with the deer management program at Enterprise. I live close by and we are flooded with deer that tear up landscaping and leave droppings in addition to being a traffic hazard. I am concerned that they are no longer afraid of humans and may become aggressive, especially the males.

I LIVE IN ONE OF THE DEVELOPMENTS BEHIND ENTERPRISE GOLF COURSES. WE ALREADY HAVE DEER RUNNING THRU OUR NEIGHBORHOODS/YARDS NOW. IF A DEER HARVEST HAPPENS OVER AT THE GOLF COURSE, WHAT'S TO KEEP MORE OF THEM FROM RUNNING AND HIDING OUT IN OUR NEIGHBORHOODS. THEY'RE ALREADY WALKING THRU THE NEIGHBORHOODS DURING THE DAY AND SEEM TO FEAR HUMANS LESS AND LESS.
